Press Computer Systems has appointed Philip Walker as Managing Director to drive forward exciting plans for the future of the Midlands-based publishing software developer.
Said PCS Chairman Graham Evers: “Philip brings a wide range of talent and experience to bear as we look to develop PCS into the UK’s leading publishing software development company. “PCS has recently moved into new city centre offices and introduced a new management team. The company needs a special Managing Director to lead and inspire the team into what will certainly be an exciting future and I am delighted Philip has accepted the challenge.” Hailing from the North East, Philip’s first job in publishing was with the Northern Echo in Darlington, from where he was promoted to a group role with Westminster Press. Philip joined the Midland News Association, publishers of the Express & Star in Wolverhampton and the Shropshire Star evening titles and their associated weeklies, as Group IT Manager in 1995. He became Group IT Director for the MNA in 1999. Following the MNA's acquisition of the Guiton Group of Companies, Philip was appointed to the board of Guiton Publishing Ltd, which incorporates the Jersey Evening Post and Guernsey Press. Setting out his vision for the future of PCS, the new MD said: “I am looking forward to working with a great team of people to further enhance our traditional reputation for developing smart solutions through innovation and delivering strong customer service in an always-challenging market. “We have embarked on some exciting new projects which will use new technologies to deliver flexible, cost-effective solutions for our customers that will improve and extend our existing products.” Philip is 42 and lives in Shropshire with his wife and two teenage children. He enjoys travel and walking and is an unashamed fan of Middlesbrough Football Club. [ Click to return to top ] |
